Go equipment comes in many sizes, grades and values; the goal of our store and our outreach program is to bring to Go players the best equipment at the best possible prices.
Club Set - Goban
The table-boards (table gobans) we provide are constructed of laminated bamboo. They are 3/4" thick and fold. The hinges are epoxy-glued and screwed into the bamboo for a secure bond. Beyond the tremendous durability of the boards, it is important to note that the Glowing Stone Club Set boards are laser-etched. This means that the grid, which, on most commercial boards is painted on, will not rub off with use!
Club Set - Stones and Bowls
The stones we sell as part of our Club Set are Yunzi Stones. These sintered-glass stones are the traditional Chinese stones that have historically been made in the Yunnan Province of China for several hundred years (barring a period in the early 1900s when the recipe was thought lost). At 8 - 8.5mm thick and nearly 22mm in diameter, these biconvex stones are not only nice to look at, but are easy to place and remove from the board, something not found with cheaper single-convex stones.
Yunzi stones can be identified by an emerald green halo in the black stones when held up against the light. Unlike many cheaper varieties of Yunzi stone, the stones we sell are just as luminescent as thinner, single convex stones. This means that, in the right light, the black stones glow green! The white stones, depending on where they were made, may have a green tint to them as well, but most simply have a grey centre from the sheer thickness of the stone.
Glowing Stone Club Sets are heavy, durable and can last lifetimes. We assign each set a unique serial number for customer service purposes, allowing you, as a player, to contact us and confirm any issues you may have. We have tried to show, in the images below, the qualities of the set as described above.

Traditional floor Goban. Made of katsura wood, it is roughly 11cm thick and has four legs. It comes with two chestnut bowls and 8mm-thick standard-grade slate and clamshell stones.
